Keflavík International Airport (KEF) is Iceland’s main international gateway, located about 50 km south-west of Reykjavík on the Reykjanes peninsula. It handles the large majority of the country’s international traffic and is the hub for Icelandair and PLAY, with extensive connections across Europe and North America.
Terminals
The airport operates from a single main terminal (the Leifur Eiríksson Air Terminal), with separate areas for departures and arrivals and ongoing expansion to handle growing transatlantic transfer traffic.
Getting to and from Reykjavík
There is no train service in Iceland; the airport is connected to Reykjavík by the Flybus and Airport Direct coaches, which take around 45 minutes to the city’s bus terminal and hotels. Taxis and rental cars are also available, with the drive taking roughly 45–50 minutes. The Blue Lagoon is about 20 minutes away.
