Nearly everyone who visits Iceland lands at Keflavík International Airport (KEF), out on the Reykjanes Peninsula about 50 km southwest of Reykjavik. It's the country's only international airport, with flights across Europe and North America, and a lot of those are overnight transatlantic crossings. That's the real reason people look for hotels near Keflavík Airport: you arrive bleary-eyed and want a bed close by rather than an hour's drive into town.
Flybus and Reykjavik Excursions coaches run into central Reykjavik in about 50 minutes. The closest bed to the terminal is the Ibis Styles Keflavik Airport, a 3-minute walk away.
