Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to book Acropolis tickets in advance?
Yes, especially from June to September. Timed entry tickets sell out. Book at culture.gov.gr before arriving in Athens.
Is the Metro safe at Athens Airport?
Yes. Metro Line 3 is well maintained, modern and widely used by both tourists and commuters. Carriages are clean and air-conditioned.
What is the minimum layover time for a visit to the Acropolis?
Allow at least 5 hours from landing to boarding. That gives about 2 hours at the Acropolis after accounting for Metro travel and walking time.
Does the X95 bus go to the Acropolis?
The X95 bus goes to Syntagma Square, not directly to the Acropolis. From Syntagma you still need to walk or take the Metro one stop to Monastiraki.
Is the Goldair Lounge the only lounge at ATH?
The Goldair Lounge is the main Priority Pass accessible lounge at Athens Airport. Other lounges in the terminal are airline-specific and require eligible boarding passes.
